What is Peg City Showcase?

Peg City Showcase is a competitive circuit for 14U-17U club teams.

Unlike a traditional weekly league, Showcase competition is concentrated into three weekend sessions during the fall season. Each team plays three games per session. Results contribute to season-long Power Rankings, which ultimately determine seeding for the Showcase Championship Tournament.

Key Features

  • Three Showcase competition weekends
  • Three games per session
  • 9 guaranteed regular-season games
  • High-level club competition
  • Power Rankings throughout the season
  • Championship playoffs
  • Player statistics
  • Concentrated weekend format

Players do not register for Showcase teams directly through Peg City.

Your club determines its team roster, player fees, practices, tournaments and other team-specific details.

How Showcase Works

1. Showcase Sessions

Teams compete in three scheduled Showcase weekends during the fall.

Each team plays three games per session.

2. Power Rankings

Game results are used to rank teams throughout the season.

Every Showcase session contributes to the Power Rankings, giving each game meaning and creating a season-long competitive race.

3. Showcase Championships

Following the final Showcase session, Power Rankings determine seeding for the championship tournament.

Teams then compete in a single-elimination playoff for the Showcase title.

Why Play Showcase?

  • High-Level Competition - Showcase gives competitive club athletes the opportunity to test themselves against strong teams from across Manitoba.
  • Meaningful Games - Every result contributes to Power Rankings and ultimately affects championship seeding.
  • Concentrated Competition - Multiple games are played during each Showcase weekend, creating an event-style atmosphere and a different competitive experience from a traditional weekly league.
  • Player Statistics - Peg City tracks individual player statistics, giving athletes and families another way to follow performance throughout the season.
  • Championship Experience - The season builds toward the Showcase Championships, where teams compete for the title based on their performance across all three sessions.

Learn About the Spring Target Score Series

What is Target Score?

Target Score creates a different type of game finish.

Rather than simply playing until the game clock expires, teams compete toward a predetermined target score. Every game ends on a made basket.

The format creates meaningful late-game possessions and encourages:

  • Execution under pressure
  • Late-game composure
  • Strategic decision-making
  • Competitive game finishes

It gives athletes another way to develop and compete during the spring club season.

Where Are Showcase Games Played?

The majority of Peg City Showcase games are played at Winnipeg basketball facilities including:

  • Sport Manitoba - Sport for Life Centre
  • Dakota Fieldhouse
  • University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre

Venues may vary by session and division.
